Healthy Protein: Animal vs. Plant

There are countless studies currently underway in an attempt to distinguish the best type of protein. While some people are strong believers in gaining their nutrition from meat products, more and more people are relying upon plant sources as a means of sustaining their health. In this article I will discuss some of the best sources of protein.

More and more people are starting to turn towards plant based protein as a mean of nutrition. This includes soy, nuts, and beans. These particular foods are also rich in fiber and plant based phytochemicals which can decrease the chances of heart disease and cancer. Numerous studies have confirmed that people who ate a diet rich in plant-protein had a lower risk of heart disease compared to those who consumed a hardy meat diet. Aside from being rich in protein, several meats are also laden with cholesterol, sodium and saturated fats. That is why eating a plant based diet has countless health benefits compared to a meat based diet. Of course it is not wise to eliminate all meat from your daily menu. Lean meats that are low in saturated fats, as well as fish, are great sources of protein.

Some people are also getting their protein from whey protein shakes. Just as with actual food, plant based protein is much easier digested than animal powder. The human body is able to break down and absorb whey protein quickly and effectively. Furthermore, whey powder contains no cholesterol, no sodium, no saturated fats and very few calories. This is great for anyone who is interested in quick weight loss. So as you can see, adding more healthy protein to your daily diet is easily attainable and it can be very beneficial for those of us who want to lose weight.
